People joined in from different corners of the world to partake of the one hour weekly show.

I am a shadow work facilitator and I was invited to host 'LIVE SHOW' titled Embodying Light & Shadow at the Embodiment Conference 2021.

Embodying Light & Shadow Dance
Monday 06 September
6pm UK/1pmET/10amPT/ 10:30pm IST
Our inaugural session on Light & Shadow comes with some questions:
What is Light?
What is Shadow?
Light is known & familiar. Shadow is unknown & unfamiliar.
Do you know your shadow has a positive & negative side?
The good news is that shadow’s negative side too has a hidden treasure within. With embodied practice, compassion, and connection we can learn to dance with light & shadow. The outcome is an empowered authentic relationship with self & others.
An open invitation awaits you, dear traveler. Come find your relationship to your shadow.

Theme: Exploring & Exploding the Myth of the Inner Child
A conscious look at ‘Inner Child’ as a resource for individuality & adulthood and the paradox of ‘Light & Shadow’ therein.
What happens when an adult has their ‘Inner Child’ in the driving seat?
The comical effects and disasters that ensue make for an interesting discussion. The session will explore & explode the myth of the inner child and the play of Light & Shadow (of such a relationship) in the individual & collective!

“The person who has eaten his shadow spreads calmness. If the ancients were right that darkness contains intelligence and nourishment and even information, then the person who has eaten some of his or her shadows is more energetic as well as more intelligent” Robert Bly
In this regard, Parenting & your Child’s shadow takes a whole new significance. Tapping into one’s shadow becomes an art to teach and learn, for a more balanced & resourceful self.
How are parents responsible for their child’s shadow?
How can they become instrumental in harnessing the energy of their own and their child’s shadow particularly when the child is transitioning into adulthood?
How can a macabre dance of light & shadow rupture the intimate relationship between parents and the young adult?
Own your and your child’s shadow through meditation movement and reflection.

Embodying Light & Shadow Dance
We understand shadow-work isn’t a favorite pastime. Who enjoys owning their flaws, their dark side? Focusing on our light is much more fun. However, once begun, shadow-work gives us tremendous opportunities for growth & liberates enormous amounts of energy; which can be used for creativity, better relationships, and integration.
Up for some shadow-work exercises? Keep a notebook and pen ready.

Romantic relationships are idealized projections. A romantic couple not only lives with each other’s shadow but also the hooks (shadows) from which hang shadows of their fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, other loves, idols, fantasies, maybe even past lives. All these shadows seek recognition and redemption.
Too often individuals in romantic relationships are joined in their weakness (unmet needs) rather than in their strength.
All of this is what we “marry” in the other, a process that goes on while we manage to earn a living, go to the movies, watch television, go to the doctor, walk to the park, follow the soccer series, try to stop drinking, eat too many fritters.

Romance & Love are used interchangeably in a relationship. Are they the same? When we explore them in-depth, we come upon fine differences between them.
They are each other’s light & shadow.
Can a relationship have both Romance & Love; where Love is content to do many things that Romance is bored with and vice versa?
Come let’s embody this interesting human phenomena, and gain a fresh perspective through meditation & movement.

Theme: The light and shadow of forceful energy
Forceful energy is required to stake your claim, draw boundaries, defend yourself or raise your voice against injustice. But the same energy can turn destructive and violent in rage or anger. How to embody forceful energy in a balanced way, at the right moment, in the right amount for definitive positive outcome.

Theme: Light & the Golden Shadow
Like Beauty embracing the Beast, our beauty is deepened as we embrace the shadow, finding the golden treasure within. “The shadow is not an affair between you and others but between you and you”. And the journey is always ‘through’, in a safe space held together by a group.

“This woman is asking me to help her get rid of the dependent face of her soul. But that would be a move against her soul. The fact that her dependency is making itself felt doesn’t mean it should be bludgeoned or surgically removed; it may be asserting itself because it needs attention. Her heroic championing of independence might be a way of avoiding and repressing the strong need of something in her to be dependent. I try offering some words of dependence that don’t have the connotations of wimpiness that seem to bother her” – Thomas Moore
